Alpine and cross country skiing, snowboarding, snow-tubing and sledging courses have become the latest phenomena for millions of people of all ages. As in the rest of the world, the number of domestic and foreign skiers visiting Czech winter centres is rapidly growing. Skiing is available from between 700 m to 1300 m above sea level, with beautiful views of white snow-capped peaks and pleasant valleys. Most of the winter resorts of the Czech Republic are located in national parks or protected landscape areas. The choice is grand, indeed. The visitors choose either the best-known and most visited Krkonose with an excellent infrastructure and equipment, or some less popular ski centres located in the romantic corners of Sumava, Orlické hory, Jizerské hory, Jeseníky or Beskydy. The Czech winter centres offer good quality slopes, tracks, bob-sleigh runs and technical sports background. Several localities were chosen for organizing prestigious sports events. Ski and snowboard schools provide their services in every skiing centre, as well as ski rentals. There are prepared ski slopes and cross country routes for beginners as well as for experienced skiers and for children as well as for adults.
